This is the second year that we have camped on site of the Chicagoland Speedway for the summer race weekend in July. Check in begins on Wednesday at noon before the race weekend. We arrived at 7:00 pm on the first day of check in and had no problem getting checked in. The process was very speedy. You must have the decals sent from the track affixed to the front windshield of the tow vehicle and the other on a window of your trailer. Once arriving at the campground entrance gate we were greeted again and given two welcome packets filled with advertisements and information and nice little gift. We had no problems finding our spot as they are all are clearly marked. We had plenty of room with our 32 foot trailer on one spot and our friends 24 foot on the other. They do offer a potable water service that costs $40 per service and you must purchase tickets in advance for the service. The ticket tent is easily located at the front of the campground. The waste management trucks travel throughout the campground throughout the day for those wishing to use their service. The portable toilets were way cleaner this year than past years. However there could be more throughout the campground. They did not have enough toilets in my opinion. The shower truck was very nice and clean. The only problem with the shower truck is that it is open from 6:00 am until noon and then again from 6:00 pm until midnight. A bib line started to form from 7:30 am and you could end up having to stand in line waiting for a shower for 25+ minutes. They have great water pressure and are hot instantly. They are not timed so you can shower as long as you wish thus the problem of the long line! Overall the campground is very clean and well kept. Noise was minimal but to be expected being at the races. I totally recommend staying at this campground. We will be coming back again next year!

We chose this campground for is closeness to our home. It was our first visit to this campground. We had heard from others that sometimes if there is too much rain certain sites flood due to the campground being on the Kishwaukee River. So before arriving we called to see if any of our 3 sites had any water in them as we had had some thunderstorms through out the day. We were told no there was no water on them. Upon arrival we found all 3 of our sites to be saturated with water as well as have standing water on them. There also was a heavy thunderstorm about 30 minutes after we set up camp. We dealt with it as we knew the next day was supposed to beautiful and thought that the sunshine would dry it out. Around noon the next day all of a sudden we found our sites to be filling up with water very quickly that had overflowed from the river. We went to the office and were accommodated very well by the staff as far as moving all 3 of our campers to dryer and higher sites. Later that evening around 10:00 PM the water began filling up our new sites rather quickly. We were told by the staff again that they could again put us in another site up toward the front on the other side of a hill. I think that they should have done this from the beginning! The staff and owners know that their campgrounds flood when there is too much rain and the river over flows! They were very nice and understanding with our frustrations with having to move for the second time. We elected to quickly pack everything up along with our pets and kids and head home at midnight as the water rose very quickly in our site. This is a nice campground and the kids enjoyed the playgrounds. It definitely could use some clean up and updating. It also could use some lawn care. It appeared that the grass had not been mowed for a while. There are a lot of seasonal sites and some of them are not well taken care of. The fishing pond is nice. We never did use the swimming beach as it is very tiny. You could only fit about 10 people in this area and it was always full. It was a very quiet campground. The Kishwaukee River does run through it. They had five or six activities planned only for Saturday. There are no fire rings but rather a metal rusted round bowl type thing on three legs for a fire pit. You can not cook on these pits without a tripod. Luckily we had brought our grill to cook on. Also, bring lots and lots of yard guard and mosquito spray with you as it is loaded with them. All of us have our fair share of bites from the bugs even with religiously putting on bug spray. We would definitely consider going back as long as there is no rain in the forecast and has had time to dry up!

This was our 4th trip to this campground. They recently went through bankruptcy and have new owners. The campground is separate from the lodge hotel and villas. The lodge hotel and villas were not open or operating when were were there. We have always had wonderful stays with them. We arrived on the Thursday before Memorial Day and it was like a ghost town. The campground was clean but they did not have any of the grass mowed before this big weekend of camping. Check in was very fast. We had reserved a golf cart and that check in was also very speedy once they found someone to handle the check in. We did end up have a bad battery in the golf cart so we had to take it back to get another one. They were very accommodating. I'm going to rate this 8 instead of 10 because we had a problem before even arriving. We made our reservation back in January of 2009. Paid for it in full and were given a confirmation number and site number as well as a hard copy confirmation with all the information regarding our upcoming reservation. So the week of our trip on Monday I called to just verify that they had all of our information etc. When I called they verified everything and said see you this weekend. Then, we got a notice from our bank that we had a credit from Jellystone Park Warrens. So I immediately called again and Sheryl claimed that we cancelled out reservation due to the wife having knee surgery! Neither myself nor my husband cancelled our reservation! So, I nicely told them to fix it. She then informed me that she could not give me the site that we had been told we were supposed to be in. She then got very defensive and rude with me so I asked for a manager. The manager proceeded to tell me it was my fault and that I cancelled it, which I never did. They refused to give me my site back but did put us in another one 2 rows back and gave me one night free. They apparently need to figure out a cancellation policy and or process. I would have never know that our reservation was cancelled had I not gotten a credit notice from my bank. We would have arrived there is no reservation. The other reason for the 8 out of 10 is that the BP Cranberry Express had gone out of business and was closed which means you have to get off at a Tomah exit to fill up with gas to get back home. We had a 3 1/2 hour drive home. It was such a hassle to have to get off the interstate again and fill up and then get back on when we used to be able to do it right there after unhooking the truck. They still need to do some work to get back to where they once were. We would consider going back as we just haven't found anything with the variety of things for the kids to do.
